About SkyVenture

SkyVenture is the pioneer in wall to wall vertical wind tunnels. The company was founded by a group of skydivers, placing the first tunnel in Orlando Florida - SkyVenture Orlando (now iFly Orlando) - in 1999. Since the early days, SkyVenture has become the most popular wind tunnel manufacturer in the world.

SkyVenture vs iFly

It can be confusing to see the frequent mention of SkyVenture and iFly® in similar places. The quick clarification to the two terms are this: SkyVenture is the tunnel technology and iFly is the brand name. Generally, SkyVenture tunnels are privately owned and operated as franchises where iFly tunnels are being operated under the iFly World.

SkyVenture Technology Development

In 2001, Alan Metni came on as the SkyVenture CEO. Alan and the SkyVenture engineers developed recirculating wind tunnel designs. Vertical wind tunnels were previously open flow, meaning the air passed through the bell at the bottom and straight out the top. The new recirculating designs created a loop which sends air through the flight chamber and back around through the fans into the chamber in a continuous circuit.
