The team behind the Polish wind tunnel Flyspot in Warsaw began construction on their next project in Katowice. This new tunnel was originally announced via Facebook in late July of 2015. Since that time we haven't heard any updates for the location, but just this past week photos of the site were posted by the Flyspot team. The construction process has started with bulldozing of an old existing building on the site.

The new facility will feature ISG technology just as the existing Warsaw location does. The rendering does show what looks like a taller, 3 story service building. This may mean that more on-site amenities will be available. Flyspot has established itself as a base for skydiver/proflyer activities with many coaches, camps and competitions calling the tunnel home. We assume that the location in Katowice will be similar - and that fact will be supported by the 9km proximity to the international airport.

On average, tunnel construction usually takes 10-12 months to complete. Seeing that the team in Katowice has to clear an existing structure before building, we estimate this location to be around this time next year. As always you can subscribe via the Flyspot Katowice profile and we will email you as updates are available.

The surge of new wind tunnels coming to Poland is exciting to see. We will be following along closely.
